Tour 10: Pico Pan de Azúcar                      Tour Prices

This is a trekking tour in the extensive, untouched Páramo landscape which offers us the possibility to reach a peak of 4.600mts height. The Pico Pan de Azúcar is the highest mountain of Sierra de la Culata, the mountain chain which borders Mérida's north side.

Course of the tour
Day 1:For approx. one hour, we'll drive from Mérida to the end of La Culata's road .
Up there, we'll go hiking over 3.000mts height, passing along long valleys while observing their typical vegetation. After approx. four hours, we'll arrive at the foot of Pico Pan de Azucar where we'll set up our tents.
Day 2: Early in the morning, we'll make our way to the top.
The ascent will be steep and through slippery sand which makes it harder.
After two hours, we'll have made it and be stepping on the summit.
Our effort will be rewarded by the impressive view of the snow-covered mountains of Sierra Nevada.
If by looking to the north, the view is clear, we'll see the gigantic dimensions of Maracaibo lake.
After enjoying the panorama, we'll begin the descent back to the camp.
From there, we'll walk to the road where a car will take us to Mérida.
