General Information on Prices
The currency:
is the Venezuelan Bolivar. Paying with current credit cards is mostly possible in airlines, big hotels and good restaurants.
You can easily withdraw money with your card in the local cash stations or money institutions. However, we recommend you to take a
bigger amount of traveler's checks (US$ or Euro), so you can easily change them at the "Casa de Cambios" (exchanging office) and use the
credit card just for the payment of your flights.
The price level:
in Venezuela isn´t considered as a low one. The prices in Caracas are higher than other big cities. During holidays and
vacations, the prices in many restaurants and hotels are even higher. It is recommended to avoid going to the coast during this time.
Good prices:
on trips are possible during low season (May to July and September to November) which we organize. Those who are staying for a longer time, in Mérida for example, can have a lunch from $2. It also exists the possibility of cooking in some posadas (Guest houses).
Transportation prices:
are according to the town or place. Prices in tourist areas and big cities are relatively high.
Taxis:
in the province charge a minimum of $1 to start with. In Caracas or in the International Airport it could be more expensive (we offer pick up or cheaper taxi service from Caracas area with better conditions). The small buses (por puestos) are very cheap.
Local Buses:
charge $ 0,5 approximately depending on the riding time.
Flight:
prices are very different depending on the airline and the destination. For example, a flight from Maiquetia (Caracas) to Mérida takes 75 minutes and costs $90.
